My name is Amanda Caloia and I am an aspiring Physical Education teacher as I near the end of my four year journey as a physical education major at SUNY Cortland. I am from Syracuse but have come to SUNY Cortland to learn from one of the greatest physical education programs there are. I long to make a difference in physical education by encouraging anyone and everyone to lead a healthy and physically active lifestyle. I enjoy working with adapted students and hope to have this opportunity when teaching in my future school district. I hope to contribute my positive energy, dedicated time and unique ideas into a school district that is devoted to enhancing the learning of the students and expanding their curriculum to have as much diversity, balance and depth as possible. Having a dynamic curriculum is also important to me because health and physical education are both constantly evolving and new ideas and activities are arriving to the surface of our country. I am highly active in exploring many different ways to stay healthy and fit so teaching a vast variety of activities is very enjoyable for me. To list a few of my favorite activities I enjoy training and competing in triathlons, rollerblading, yoga, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, and snowboarding. I love to be embraced by as well as create a positive, fun-filled and active climate. I am scheduled to graduate from SUNY Cortland on May 12, 2012. After graduation I will be student teaching from September until December of 2012 and then plan to continue my education in hopes of obtaining a master's degree in Adapted Physical Education.
