Artifact: Motor Development Lab Skill Assessment
Reflection: This class gave me the opportunity to travel to St. Mary's after school program. In this program I was able to assess elementary students using the TGMD-2: Test for Gross Motor Development- Second Edition- Revised to evaluate the skill assigned to assess the students. At St. Mary's Elementary school each week our Lab section would asses these specific skills while the students were involved in games developed by the SUNY Cortland students. The locomotor skills that were used included kicking, dribbling, running, leaping, galloping and skipping. The Cortland students were given two students to assess their abilities to preform these skills. It is important to understand how to properly assess students because their assessment will assist you as the educator to teach to their skill level to help the student become more proficient in their movements based on the Performance Criteria of the skill or movement.
